Ice Ridges – What causes them and what can I do about it?


This is more of an issue for Lake Superior and inland lake property owners but ridging occurs on northland streams as well. A ridge is a line or wall of broken ice forced up by pressure. The submerged volume of broken ice under a ridge, forced downwards by pressure, is termed an ice keel. Find out more below by clicking on the images.
